When Arthur Boorman was injured in the Gulf War, a botched surgery left him immobile and depressed. Having been told he would never walk unassisted again, the 47-year-old ballooned to 297lbs and gave up hope of ever being happy again.
But thanks to a revolutionary form of yoga, Mr Boorman managed to lose a staggering 140lbs in just ten months and now can not only walk without his canes and leg braces, he can run.

This long-standing domain will be going away pretty soon as we are coming upon our annual renewal and it won't be. We first registered slugs.cc on the World Wide Web in 1996 (or was it mid-1995?, a year or two after all of this years' grads were born), but with the awesome new technologies which have come about, online social interacting has become more effortless than ever.
This has served as a great and rich resource over the years, and I'm sure we'll be just as successful - more so even - with our new approach. I haven't posted much to the Slugs+ page, but I'll get better at it, without a doubt (thanks for all of the tutorials, Mike I still have things to learn about using Slugs+, but to even that, I'm looking forward.... That hangout sold me!
This page has seen so many things... kids born, trips and parties organized, hangovers experienced, photos shared. It's been a place for us to keep in touch with family and friends all over the world, and that long before Facebook was conceived.
Thank you all for 16+ years of making this a great place to keep in touch... I'll see you on the + side!
It may be time to put this page away for good. I've now set up a Google+ "page" that is called Slugs plus. I am hereby offering my assistance to you all to show you the best way to set up your computers and phones to have access to (and manage) this new page.
Oh how times have changed. Here it is New Years Eve - already 8 pm, had dinner at 4 ( what the??, I am at home with the kids, and haven't even had a drink yet....and I am just fine with that! Actually the last couple of New Years Eve celebrations have been at home with the kids.
2011 - Good friggin riddance!! It sucked!! I think it was a very trying year for many of us, and many of you would agree that it can't be gone soon enough. I sit here about to open a bottle of the last batch of homebrew brewed in 2011 (the name of the beer also says good riddance) and am starting to already try to purge the frustration of the year. Hmmmmm.
Ok, the year sucked, but you know what? The MOST important things are still pretty damn good. I have my family, my friends, and decent health (I'm still here) so that's not so bad right?
I want to wish all of you a very Happy New Year. Those of us that had a rough one- hopefully it will get much better. Those of us that had a good one- hopefully it will get much better.
Happy New Year Slugs! I love you all. Thank you for your friendship and support. Be safe, and let's make this a great year.
Hello all. I've been trying to post for the last couple days now, but apparently our modem is out - so I am trying to do this over my phone-please be patient with me.
I wanted to be witty and clever with this post, but now I feel handcuffed - so let's just get to it.
The gathering of The Slugs around Turkeyday will be the Friday AFTER Thanksgiving at the Perea household. Hopefully this works better for everyones holiday schedule and the thought of being hungover on T-day.

Yes - you are supposed to sing the title of this post like the Pink Floyd song! Just checking if anyone was still on The Page. GABF is this weekend and I haven't heard from anyone in awhile. I realize this goes both ways, and is probably more my fault than anyone else. Anyway, just wanted to say...what's up Slugs??
P.S. Happy Birthday R. M. fag. G.
not that there's anything wrong with that.
We'll be in ABQ for about a week starting tomorrow. Hopefully we can have a little get together somewhere this weekend, if people are available. Keep it in mind, more later.....

I wanted to write this earlier, but it's been a busy week for us. Thank you Gordon and Traci for hosting this years mnt. party at your place and thanks to all for the delicious food!! We had such a great time. It's always so nice to see you all. We're looking forward to the next slug function.
This morning I mass e-mailed everyone in my "slugs" google+ circle so that you could see the photos taken at the STS-135 launch - as requested by Deek.
Of course, I could have put a link to those photos on this page, but I believe it may finally be time to get into the second decade of the new millenium - by embracing a social network that will become FAR superior to Facebook - mark my words.
Google+ is a very robust and secure way to share thoughts, photos, multi-person IM chats and true multi-people VIDEO conferencing (this is totally cool) with ONLY those you wish to interact with.
Implemented into the google+ system is a very easy way to set up "circles" of friends. In my case, I set up the following circles: "Slugs", "Immediate family", "Extended family", "YCD" (that's work), and "Acquaintances" - for now. If I'm feeling particularly exhibitionist, I might create another circle called "work contacts" or something - but for now I don't really want to do that.
The strength of Google+ is that you can then interact and share your thoughts, pictures, links, etc with ONLY your specific "Circles" or with even just specific individuals if you so choose. Unlike Facebook, where what you post is available to everyone in the friggin' world.
Come to think of it - what's posted here on the Slugblog has been available to everyone in the friggin' world for years, as long as they knew the slugs.cc link, but I digress.
My point is this: Even though Google+ is still in Beta/Testing phase, It will become the way I plan to interact with the rest of you online when we're not sharing some thoughts and beers.
Please take a look at the link that I sent all of you (via my "slugs" circle) this morning. It's your invitation to join in.
And while I'm still learning this all, So are Deek, Blue and Sim (who invited me). I'd love to learn and implement this new paradigm with you all...my social circle.
I'm pretty sure the spot is not accessible as NM126 is closed and presuming the gate to San Gregorio is also locked. So how about something "in town"? Mike and I breifly talked Sunday and would like to still get to gether some how......So our house Saturday the 16th.
As for logistics, etc. let em rip..........I will say we have 3 extra beds, 1 couch, lots of floor space and the backyard with a BBQ Grill.....
Hey Eveyone,

The view of the Las Conchas fire from LA Mountain above our house. Visible flames. The fire has moved east very quickly. Quemazon housing development in the foreground. The main area (TA-3) of Los Alamos National Laboratory is all of the lights on the left side of photo. The bridge over Los Alamos Canyon is visible just below the lights of TA-3.
The fires started on the property right across the highway from my friend Rob's land. The guy staying on his property was the one that called it in. Apparently he found an abandoned campfire that was already burning out of control.
Rob's land has been spared. Hope I can say the same about a bunch of other properties up here.
